I've never voted for the Tories but lately I've come to see them as our only hope. Some hope! '... the party is purely a vehicle for the acquisition of political power for an unscrupulous and intellectually vapid group of nobodies.' This applies to all parties, surely. So it's the system, stupid. What a mess. Love your blog though.

Excellent article .... a shame it is completely lacking in hope but then again as there is no hope to be found it is perhaps unrealistic to expect Fred to provide some. It is a shame liz truss seems to be so favoured by the Conservative party as she strikes me as being an embarrassingly awful foreign secretary and I feel that this skill-set is unfortunately fully transferable should she become prime minister.

Liz Truss's frankly disastrous posturing in Russia filled me with shame and embarassment, while Sunak's Infosys machinations increased my cynicism and alienation: more working visas approved thanks to Infosys and its influence.

We seem to be managed and coerced by the opportunistic sloganising of an administration lacking in conviction, integrity, coherence and commitment: Net Zero, mass illegal migration, lockdown lunacy and its collateral damage, a 'woke' civil service, ducking and diving on the NI Protocol, facilitation of Sturgeon's endless rancorous grievance peddling, vicarious Ukraine related sabre rattling and posturing , while the country struggles with staggering price rises and constant fear mongering by a largely supine and biased MSM.

They are awful, but what are the alternatives? Starmer and co; Lib/Green/Lab/ SNP coaltion? More of the same, but much worse.
