Excellent article. Life in the UK now is like permanently living in one of those stress dreams where nothing makes sense and you can't make it make sense - you're just trapped in a loop of nonsense until you escape through waking.
In the wild west, an outlaw came into town he let all hell rip with his pistols, he robbed the bank and shot the sheriff, and Keir Starmer blames the horse he rode in on...
Yep, that's me - and I intent to keep being a problem until I pop me clogs!
Also to be kept in mind: these were the infamous 'tricoteuses' who sat knitting and watching gleefully as La Guillotine decapitated the then ruling classes ...
Dear Frederick, loving the references to Sir-Sir K Rodney 'son of a tool' Stomper-Starmer KC MP PM, the Al-BBC and - adding to the list - LBC wireless station fog-horn artiste James O'Brain (i.e., he appears not to have one).
The most powerful thing we can do is laugh at them all.
The Westminster Wendy House and select 'devo' Wendy Houses are fulfilling the wishes of Mr Tone Blurrrr. Atomising every single aspect of our lives.
PS - I've just ordered dog food on line. Will this lead to radicalisation? Should I self-refer to 'Prevent'?
We are ruled by people who think they are clever. It used to be that those types had a sort of internal feeling they weren't actually as clever as they thought (there's a passage about it somewhere in The Idiot by Dostoevsky). My brother is one of those people who parades around the stage being The Big I Am whilst secretly knowing he's actually pretty dumb (led to me getting beaten up by him many a time for being the visible proof he was pretty dumb!).
I don't think Donald Trump is really that smart - but he's canny and patriotic and he clearly likes humanity. He also isn't a professional politician and so doesn't speak the language or know the rules. Is there anyone in the UK like that? Nigel Farage has been knocking around the political world for decades and is pretty Establishment now. I hear that SAS man from the telly who's name I don't know (he's got a beard) is thinking of trying for London mayor. Now maybe he's the sort we need?
In the meanwhile, we are doomed to listen to the idiots who think they are clever and better than the rest of us as they fiddle round the edges making everything worse.
Agreed re: Nigel; and I think Trump is, as you say, immensely shrewd. He has not been educated into stupidity like most of our politicians, which is his massive virtue. As he calls it: the revolution of common sense!
I fear that Farage is too afraid of stepping outside the Overton window now. He does not seem to tack right with the tide, but instead worries about how he'll be perceived by the usual suspects.

Great essay, thanks. Essential reading for old Two Tier, but of course, he’s ’too clever’ to understand it.
Thanks Frederick.
The problem is clearly white haired grandmothers with white privilege knitting jumpers for their grandchildren.
Have to be careful with those knitting needles. Best the Old Bill disarm those grannies: better safe than sorry.
Apparently they get them from Amazon my good friend Sturmbanfuhrer tells me.

Indeed.

As you for your brother, I know the type.
