I've been watching a couple of fascinating series about India and its history: from the despairing viewpoint of Broken Blighty, I noted the resourcefulness, the many skills, the attachment to history and culture, the intelligence and the expertise which will surely lead India to an era of success, while we stagnate, overwhelmed, alienated and undermined by the sheer stupidity and arrogance of those in charge.

Students have been told that their chosen accommodation will no longer be available, having been allocated to the growing numbers of illegal arrivals, whose needs take priority.

A particularly irritating spokesperson- or should that be wokesperson- one Chris Stark- has tecommended that our heating should be turned off in the evenings, as temperatures fall and people gather at home.

Mr Stark Raving Bonkers is on a 6 figure salary apparently; say no more.

Gatwick Airport falls into chaos, waiting lists are soaring, excess deaths are rising, yet we are being nudged into serfdom by means of demand management ,speech and thought control, while millions are splurged on the illegal arrivals who will continue to avail themselves of the costly welcome facilities.

Finally, the next jabberwocky will shortly be rolled out, as our ever reliable media whips up the necessary panic and compliance.

Of course I agree with everything you say. But having said that what is to be done about it?

Virtually all MPs are parasites, the bought robots of political parties. They have led us into hell for 30 years and they will take us into complete slavery.

The only way forward is complete reform of the Parliamentary system with the abolition of political parties. Every MP should be independent and CONTRACTUALLY bound to their constituents to fulfil their electoral promises.

Such a reform can only be brought about by mass civil disobedience (Gandhi and MLK jr) - otherwise reform is quite impossible.

I agree with your view that political parties should be abolished. I have been promoting that for some time. We need independency MPs and fewer of them. We have two choices, not left and right, but freedom or control. The problem is freedom involves personal responsibility and accepting the consequences of mistakes and it means that we have to face the uncertainties of life. This is the problem with governments. They do not like uncertainty and believe they can control everything and the masses accept the propaganda that comes from this. I think there is no way to bring about this change and I also think that the money printing and debt is now totally out of control and the bankers don't have a clue what to do about it. The only option on offer seems to be digital currency and I think they are afraid to implement it.

Personal responsibility, accountability and wisdom have been consigned to the social and political lost and found.

As to digital currency; there is widespread opposition and suspicion of what might add yet another means of controlling the plebs.

Quite agree, which is why I'm so despondent. Reform and Reclaim spread the message but struggle to overcome the Con/Lab/LibDem/Green blob's hold on the voters.

I'm also reading about the fate of the Romanovs, their dreadful end and the ensuing revolution and civil war.

Lessons for our time, along with warnings.

Perhaps this is the end of a political and social cycle,as some now contend, but it does induce feelings of frustration, alienation and dismay.

Do they really have a hold on the voters? Khan was elected as London Mayor with 24% of the registered electorate, and the Tories were elected with 30% of the registered electorate. The electoral system is broken. We need independent MPs and none should be elected unless they can get at least 50% of the registered electorate voting for them.

I agree but as these pests keep securing victory, it must indicate widespread apathy and disengagement, while those who do vote, ensure that the usual suspects are elected.

As you rightly say, the system is in need of a complete overhaul, but can you see the denizens of Westminster, Cardiff and Holyrood agreeing to this?

I can't see any change to the system as long as it benefits the politicians. But it has taken me almost 80 years to come to this conclusion.

The comfortably off elite see all assets as their own.

The same elite regard all income as their own - it is seen as a 'right' for those who self- proclaim their superiority.

The madness of the West must stop - the damage already done will take a long, long time to repair.

The State - along with much of the corporate elite - is deeply corrupt and institutionally incompetent, fit only for P45s.

What a good, albeit depressing, article!

I would have said, back before covid, that we were living through the last stage of decline from great imperial heights. Then covid arrived and I saw that the whole western world was falling apart. The end of the post-war consensus was throwing us all off a cliff. You will note that evil old Mr Putin saw what needed to be done to restore a sense of national pride and resilience when he first got into power. You will also note that he is considered "literally Hitler" by the collapsing western world. We are burning whilst Nero fiddles. There are, sadly, no heroes waiting in the wings to save us. Robert Kennedy Jr could maybe do it in the USA but he won't get the chance. Victor Orban appears to know what a Hungarian is. That appears to be it.

We seemed to be doomed to a slide into petty bickering ridiculous obscurity caused by our own arrogance, hubris, greed, complacency and stupidity. Those illegal immigrants with their non-christian non-enlightenment views will take what they want and we will let them because we are blind.

I don't know whether the coming storm of destruction will be a good thing - clearing the decks of the old guard - or a bad thing - wiping us all out. But something has to give soon because this can't go on.
