Are the Tories on the way out? Are Labour poised to take power? Daily drama for the front pages but would we otherwise notice the difference? The Conservative Party has proved itself to be utterly useless. Entirely lacking in any convictions whatsoever – other than what the wets lamely assume will keep them in power – they now face oblivion and apparently seek to oust a Prime Minister barely 20 minutes into the job who, despite her hubris, unreadiness and communication bypass, is apparently more ready than any of the rest of them to face the financial challenge.
Until the Party sets much higher standards for the selection of MPs it will be doomed. Refuse any PPE graduates, anybody under 45 years old, require evidence of commercial/scientific success. Possibly consider limiting duration of representation. Reduce work load by involving local councillors increase pay to significant commercial level.
The snag with that is assuming that even if there were enough affluent people to offer themselves, that they were of the calibre needed. An example this very day is the grand daughter of JP Getty funding the anti oil group. One might think that major charities were run by such philanthropic types ~ except they are not. Are you sure that you want to be dictated to by the likes of Bezos?
